Yay! We are in our last week of school boys and girls. Make the best out of it. You are almost sixth graders and in summer break. Enjoy your last week of school activities and daily Zoom meetings. Achieve 3000 Read to Succeed Contest

 
Hello Parents and Students! I have been tracking your use of Achieve 3000 activities and I am happy to see your Lexile levels and scores. I want to remind students that have not completed the Achieve 3000 daily activities to do so since it is almost the end of the month and Lexile levels will be adjusted at the end of the month. I'd love to see growth in our monthly Lexile average like we usually do! 🙂 Also, I want to remind you of the Read to Succeed Contest that we are in at the moment until April 3rd. Make sure you follow our daily reading strategies we use in the classroom to get a good score. I'll attach the word analysis tools poster so you can remember strategies to identify the meaning of unfamiliar words. I'd love to see Lexile improvement and points for our class! You can do it guys! ❤️
 

Reading Strategies to Continue Using With Achieve 3000 Texts or Any Text:

1. Identify unfamiliar words and use word analysis tools to figure out the meaning before reading the text. Ex. context clues, cognates, synonyms, parts of speech, etc.
2. Read the vocabulary text box provided and other text features to get a glimpse of the reading topic.
3. Read the text twice by thinking of the main idea (informational text) or theme (literature text).
4. Highlight the evidence for the main idea/theme.
5. Read the activity questions one by one and go back to the text after every question to highlight the evidence to your answer.

6. Answer the questions after identifying/highlighting the evidence for each one.

  • Why did it get to that point?
